June 28, 2015, 2:24 pm I had a call about 2months ago from this number 'on behalf if school funding and advice' asking to do a survey I asked her repeat herself 3 times Cos I didn't understand what the hell she was sayin and what the funding was I said I'd never heard of such crap an she huffed an started gettin angry an said fine and put the phone down.. June 30, 2015, 10:50 pm Guy said he was from hmrc and I had been chosen to trial a new service for checking your pension entitlement online. He wanted my email address so I could be sent the link. Didn't recognize it but picked it up then hung up straight away as recognized the quiet no talking call, although heard a very faint voice after a few seconds. Waste of energy.. usually I just don't answer or pick up to put the phone back down straight away. Never make any conversation with them... Not worth it. July 13, 2015, 6:49 pm My 8yr old daughter just got a call from this number and told her they where from CBBC (children's channel) and they would ring back in 30 minutes. These people are sick and now making children who answer the phone think TV people are calling them. Someone really needs to stop these idiots and either give them a massive fine or jail time. They do surverys for everyone from local councils to student surveys and even HMRC. These surverys play a huge part in gathering data rhat we see on the news. If you have time just do a survey. These companies try to keep you on the phone as long as possible so that they can take your money from the call. Not sure how they do it, but we got told at work that this happens. Bought new BT 8500 call blocker phones 3 wks ago so can block this number, but would have seen it was an Edinburgh number and answered cos am in contact with a firm up there, phones store calls in & out, just got round to googling the number. Wanted to know about how trusted certain banks were, how well they were marketed etc. Felt this was a genuine marketing call that lasted around 8 mins. November 30, 2015, 3:46 pm Yes, it's legit. It's ipsos MORI. Completely legitimate - see the two posts above. Ipsos MORI were instrumental in the implementation of TPS. They do work for a vast range of companies including government departments. If they ask for an email address it's to send an informative email. If they ask for age groups, ethnicity etc it's because most research involves speaking with representative demographics. It's so sad we are all so suspicious these days. February 10, 2016, 10:20 am Young male caller, Scottish accent, stating that he was conducting a survey from HMRC around changes to small business' being introduced by the government and asked if id received a letter from HMRC. I said i hadn't and he asked if my company was still trading and how many employees I had. He clearly didn't understand my reply, asked me hold while he spoke to a supervisor and then thanked me and said that I wasn't suitable for the survey. Don't think call was anything sinister but due to his lack of understanding it was obvious that he was just reading off a questionnaire rather than being an HMRC rep. Anyone in my phone directory can through. Anyone else gets cut off!!! I always block all unregognised callers.
