October 14, 2014, 10:55 am I have now had 3 unsolicited calls on my mobile from this number and an email from some illiterate nomark who claims he tried to call me which reads: [email protected] 23:15 (11 hours ago) to me hey, i called your mobile today to thank you personally, but your phone was off and this is very important: http://triw1.s3.amazonaws.com/i14.html Not sure if the email is connected to the 3 nuisance calls on my mobile but no one else calls me on my mobile so it could be one and the same. These scumbags want locking up for spamming and annoying others, they jam up your phone with crap and intimidate people by harassing them and scaring them into thinking it is something important. Then when you call them back they are abusive or act silly and claim they don't know who you are. When will these stupid phone companies stop selling your details like phone numbers to these nuisance marketing companies, it is your phone companies behind this and they want closing down for abuse, it is a breach of trust to sell on your information to people. The lot of them make me sick. If this joker calls me and I hear the phone go this time they will regret it, because I will lay into them and make them wish they hadn't called, I am fed up of this, they are annoying. Fortunately I have my phone on silent but they are still a nuisance. Can't all of us on this page join forces and deal with them as a collective force? I think they call it a 'class action'? I didn't even pick up so if they are hanging up before the person answers it begs the question why they would call me so many times in a row. If this is a genuine cancer charity I have to ask how they got my mobile number as I have never given it out to ANY charity. November 2, 2014, 9:33 am Just answered the phone to this number, didn't say hello because before I got a chance a woman asked to speak to someone I have never heard of. So I went mad. I told her that she knows full well that this number doesn't belong to said person, that she can stop continuously phoning this mobile number especially at 09:30 on a Sunday morning. I told her it's customary to wait for the person answering the phone to say hello before talking at them, and that if she makes calls for a living she should learn some basic telephone skills such as that. She was smarmy and polite in saying thanks very much good bye. This can't be a charity especially not one as well known as cancer research as their tactics and techniques are more of an attempt to trick people, into doing what I do not know, perhaps phoning back and spending lots of money on the phone. If you fail to check whose numbers are registered with TPS, you are committing a crime and are liable for a fine of upto £500,000. Been getting 4-5 calls a day for past 2 weeks from this cancer research number, told them in the week I'm currently visiting a hospice every day as its too late for research for my family member so told them i can't really cope with calls like this about this at the minute yet yesterday morning the morning my family member passed on they ring me 4 times when I finally picked up I could only manage to tell them the situation and told them to take me off there register as I think it's very disrespectful that I had already spoke to them in the week and said I couldn't handle speaking about this right now , I think they have no concern for anyone's situation just bombard people with calls ! I do not agree with charities like this surely if people don't pick up or tell them they are not in a situation to listen or help they shouldn't keep ringing many times every day! No sensitivity, deceitful to both clients and doners, huge turnover of mis treated target orientated staff a wrong word away from getting the sack. The only way to get them to stop is to wait for them to say the charities name (they call on behalf of a number of different ones) and say your not interested. Otherwise they will call you back. January 7, 2015, 9:10 pm Just got a call at 8:55pm from this number. Looked up the std code to find it's Dunfermline! I don't know anyone there. It hit my answering machine and hen hung up. It is apparently a charity - reading this webpage - and notice a comment from them saying they are sorting it out in their post on this page dated June 20th 2014. Well they are not trying hard enough - to them a piece of advice stop calling until you are have fixed the problem. January 16, 2015, 8:24 pm Rang me tonight after 8pm. Didn't know the number rang for about 3 seconds or so then hung up. I never answer calls I don't know outside the local area. As people have mentioned a place to register phone numbers to stop these calls I think I will do that and recommend others do too. Cold calling should be stopped. They told me they are from Cancer Research and want me to collect loose change to donate to them in a box. I said I wasn't interested as I already donate to charity. I cannot believe it is true anyway as I do not give my mobile number out to charities etc and why would such a big organisation as Cancer Research ring me on my mobile anyway? Well I have just emailed "worldwide cancer research" and demanded a response from them within a week and mentioned that I always donate to cancer research which I have now stopped as this is appalling behaviour from themselves or a company on their behalf. February 7, 2015, 4:15 pm Had these calls twice a day for the last four weeks. Every time I answer, they hang up. However today they answered. They told me they worked for a charity to do with Cancer Research. I asked for the registered charity number which took a lot of tapping away on a computer at the other end and they eventually gave me it. I said I was furious at their calling system and demanded to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to Mo Mastophi who claimed to be a supervisor. I asked him about the call system and they said that from 'time to time' a glitch in the system means it hangs up when people pick up. I asked him if he really thought that 'time to time' ws twice a day for the last four weeks. He didn't really have a response for this. I then asked where he had got my data from. He said it is bought from a company called 'I Love Data' although he struggled to tell me exactly how they came to possess the data. He said 'have you every bought anything online?' I said yes and he said that's where they would have got my data from. The other data they had was an address from over 5 years ago and they had my name as a female (I am male) and it wasn't even close to my real name. There is definitely something dodgy going on here. I informed him that there are thousands of posts on the internet about this being a nuisance called and I informed him that I'd reported him to Ofcom a number of times which I have. I already donate to cancer research and I am annoyed that people feel it's ok to hound and badger people to donate, this charity is very close to my heart too as I have lost a lot of family and friends to cancer!! Well I went on to the website for "worldwide cancer research" who this company are collecting on behalf of and I emailed them and explained my concerns and mentioned that I had also spoke to my local newspaper regarding this issue. The manager called Paula Cahill responded and has addressed the managing director of this matter (so she says) and has also removed my number from their list! I said no, and they asked if I'd even consider a quarterly donation. I said I'd think about it, since then they call me 2 - 3 times every day, inc. occasionally late in the evening. September 24, 2015, 10:00 am I received a box from this "cancer charity" all seems to be a well run charity. But haven't advertised the box at my business as feel a bit strange and unsure of them. They rang one Sunday afternoon and introduced themselves as a cancer charity and asked if I'd be interested in a donation box for my business. Of course I said yes, but feel un-easy about it as I don't think charity calls in the way they did? So not sure if it's a scam or not??? Caller Company: 01383 226013 |
