My god, how many scammers are there? This is geniune!!! Ignore the people who are saying it was fake. I almost believed it was fake myself, but I phoned just to be sure, because it was a lot of money they said had been used. It was genuine, which makes me so angry, but happy that my bank are so good at responding to this, as they stopped it really quickly.

If in doubt, call your bank asap. I didn't like the text format, it was pretty strange, calling your bank's helpline is always the best.

Attempted to purchase a product on-line (bathroom equipment). Was redirected to Sage Pay.

Entered Visa Card Number and security code and noticed that I was then asked for sort code and account number - which I did not provided.

Cancelled the transaction but got an SMS within minutes asking to to confirm that I made the transaction. Did not respond to this.

Called the on-line company. Whilst they agreed that it was odd they said it was nothing to do with them.

Called Sage. They said that it was between me and the supplier.

Called LLoyds. They said that it was between me, the supplier and Sage.

The only way this scam could work is if the supplier had outsourced their payment engine to Sage using a dishonest intermediary.

Called Lloyds again. After much switching between departments and many repetitions of the story. It seemed that the SMS was genuine.

One possible explanation was that the Sage Pay payment processing site was not working or that the intermediary payment processor has implemented the payment piece incorrectly.

It was agreed that the payment system should not have been requesting account number and sort code.

Had a genuine message from Lloyds when their system had flagged a possibly fraudulent transaction. Called the Lloyds general contact number and asked to be put through to Debit Card fraud department, and they checked my details and unblocked my card. After 5 mins I was able to put through the transaction again successfully.

Claiming to be from Lloyds Bank, Quoting the last few digits from my debit card and warning me of an unknown transaction. It asked me to respond 'Yes' or 'No' to the number.

I ignored it. But if I had responded 'yes' I would have received a phonemail claiming to be Lloyds fraud department within the following days.

This is clearly a scam. The got the name of the bank wrong, the card number wrong, and the whole thing is a scam. No bank has this number. The reviews on this page are also faked by the same scammers. Look at the pattern: 30 min after the initial disbelief people ''suddenly'' learn that it is genuine. Do not reply to the message, send the screenshot to your bank security, and hopefully, these thugs will soon have one less number to operate. Not that it would stop them really, of course.

Seriously??

Who are you going tp believe in this thread? Why would anyone saying it's a scam go to all the trouble of writing about their experience in great detail if they had not actually experienced it?

On the other hand, any of the lying fraudsters above who have anonymously posted a response saying it's genuine have everything to gain. If they can fake the text to look like it's genuine they are certainly capable of posting fake messages here!
